When my daughter, Victoria, was four-years-old, she and I were dancing to Jesus, praising the Lord to the music that helped us think about and worship Him. We were full of joy, in our bare feet on the plush rug in front of the stereo. I had my eyes closed, hands raised, and was enjoying the Lord. Victoria was following me across the rug. “Mama!” I heard her say, “Can I walk in your footprints?”
I stopped, and thoughts of the past hit me. For a moment I hesitated, but then the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, rose up in me and reminded me that, as Romans 8:1 says, “There is now no condemnation (guilt) to those of us in Christ Jesus. Through my faith in the Blood of Jesus that He shed for me on the cross, I was totally forgiven and free! And He told me to forget the wrongs I’d done. Since I believed in Him, He now saw me as righteous–right with Him.
I knelt down beside my little one, hugged her, then looked deep into her eyes. “Yes, Baby,” I told her, “you can follow me—because I follow Jesus!”
Who do you want to follow?
