Remember that day when you shoved your little sister to the floor? She had been making you upset with the way she kept trying to take your toys away from you and you just wanted to stop her. Do you remember how you felt after you shoved her?
Sometimes we feel like hurting other people when they do something that upsets us. Sometimes we do hurt those who make us mad. When we do, we usually end up feeling guilty. You know how it feels to be guilty; it makes us feel like we are dirty inside of us. It makes us feel sad.
God doesn’t want us to feel guilty. God doesn’t want us to push people down; He doesn’t want us to hurt others, and He doesn’t want us to keep feeling sad after we have messed up and done something wrong. God wants to make things better. God wants us to help us let that dirty feeling go away.
God has promised that He is waiting when we are ready to be sorry. God is ready to forgive us, to make us feel clean instead of dirty. When we do things that are bad, we just need to tell God that we are sorry, then He will forgive us and make us clean.
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
