I know a dear friend who had an email address that went something like this eyesupalways. Stopping to think about that makes me think about staying focused on heavenly things. Things get really hectic in life. Growing up you have school, parents, friends, homework, chores, etc…the list goes on and on! It’s all too easy to become discouraged and distracted. I’m here today to encourage you that God’s word offers us hope.
Let’s look at the bible:
2 Corinthians 4:18 – So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
This verse seems to be a bit of a tongue twister at first. When you really think about it, it’s letting us know that what we see is temporary. So, all of our troubles, joy, fame and riches wont last forever. The things that are not seen to the visible eye on this earth are what has lasting value. The angels we are surrounded by for protection and guidance. The good news that we spread about Jesus to someone who doesn’t know him yet. The kindness we show a stranger. The service we give to others without ever being noticed or asking for anything in return.
These, my friends, are the heavenly things we cannot always see. Take heart and do not let your current circumstances trip you up in life. Time is moving and it sure does move fast. The days are passing. Make them count!
What are some things you can look up to the Lord for help with?
