Don’t Be Afraid to Try
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Melody rushed through the door and met her Mom, grabbing for her hand. “Mom, Ms. Frankie asked me to audition for the school play but I am no good at speaking in front of crowds! She said I would do great. How do I tell her I don’t feel up for it?”
Her mother smiled, and invited her to sit on her lap. “Melody, do you remember learning about Gideon at church on Sunday?”
Melody nodded a yes and said, “Mom, Gideon didn’t feel like he was strong and God asked him to fight his enemies.”
“Do you remember what Pastor Matt said about God and feelings?” Her mother held Melody’s hand as she spoke to her daughter.
“I think he said that it doesn’t matter what we feel, but how God sees us. Do you think God sees me as an actress?” Melody got excited.
“I believe that you should never turn down an opportunity God might have for you, no matter how you feel about it,” her mother encouraged.
“Okay, I will try out for the play! Who knows, maybe I will be a surprise actress like Gideon was a surprise warrior!”
