“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
Squirmles sat quietly, hands in her lap.
She was saying a prayer just before nap.
She had a big test coming the next day,
But she sat in silence, unsure what to say.
She didn’t really think God would hear her plea,
After all, she was sure he was too busy.
She used to believe and trust God would hear,
But she was older now and felt less near.
When she was little she knew he’d protect,
Her prayers back then her trust would reflect.
“Mom,” she called to vent her fear,
“I don’t think he hears me now,” she confessed in tears.
“God not only hears your every word, but thoughts too,
He still cares ever so much just for you.
His love didn’t change as you got older,
He didn’t stop listening or grow colder.
“The same God you prayed to for little things,
Is still listening to the troubles you bring.
He doesn’t change and neither does his love,
He always is listening to his children from above.
“I pray to the same God that you do too,
He’s the same for me and the same for you.
His love never changes, his love never fails,
His love is still the same from the cross and nails.”
When have you been afraid that God stopped caring, or that he would stop caring for you?
How do you think God can be so faithful?
