“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.” Psalm 118:8
The day had come it was time to go,
How it was eight already? She didn’t know.
Her bag was packed,
Her lunch was sacked.
First day of first grade, she didn’t feel ready,
Her feet started to walk but her legs were unsteady.
She had been sooo excited and ready for today,
But now she just wanted to run the opposite way.
What if she didn’t fit in with rest?
What if she didn’t look her best?
What if she was called on the first day of class?
What if she didn’t know the answer and had to pass?
Would she find friends or eat lunch alone?
What if she got sick and had to use the nurse phone?
All these worries and many more,
Tumbled in her head as she entered the door.
But then she remember what her mom had said,
“You’re never alone, and there’s nothing to dread,
Jesus is with you in class and lunch too,
He’s knows you’re nervous but he’s there for you.
“Other kids are scared to start school as well,
If you look around it’s easy to tell.
Be the friend to others that you want by your side,
Talk, play and enjoy the ride.”
Have you ever felt alone or uneasy in a new situation? What do you do when you nervous about something new?
