Hidden from sight—about 100 feet below the top of the ocean—miracles happen. It begins with something like a sliver pushing its way inside the hard shell of an oyster. The discomfort of the “sliver” causes the oyster to coat the invader with the same substance that creates the shell. That works great for the outside of the oyster—but adding layer upon layer to the sliver makes the oyster more uncomfortable. The Good News for the oyster is that mankind loves those coated slivers. We call them pearls.
Sometimes yucky things come into our lives, too. When that happens, we often try to do what the oyster tried: cover up the hurt. We need to learn something important from the oyster. We cannot cover up our problems thinking they will go away.
When we have a problem, we need to take it to someone who can help us find Good News.
“And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness–secret riches … ” (Isaiah 45:3a)
Because Jesus—who is God—loves us, He loves to do miracles for us. No matter what problem we have, Jesus can change it into a pearl.
Do you have a problem that needs a miracle from Jesus?
