Joey and Rider were best friends. They had always lived next door to each other, since they were new babies. One day, Rider found Joey in the tree house that they shared. He saw that his friend looked as though he’d been crying.
“What’s wrong, Joey?”
“My parents told me today that we have to move for my dad’s job. We won’t be neighbors anymore! It’s horrible.”
Rider was angry and he felt like crying too. How could his best friend leave? What would he do without him? Suddenly Rider remembered something that they had learned in Vacation Bible School together.
“Joey, do you remember when Ms. Frank told us about Jonathan and David, and how they had to be friends from afar a lot of the time?”
Joey nodded his head yes.
“We can do this. It will be hard, but we’re best friends no matter what. We will visit, and talk on the phone and write letters and it will be okay. I know it.” Rider was sure that God could help them, and he was right.
Joey moved, but he and Rider stayed best friends their whole lives, all with God’s help.
