Jesus died a very unkind death on the cross. The unkind people who beat and slapped Jesus said some very mean things to Him as He carried His cross to the place where they would take His life by nailing Him to that cross. Just think how much Jesus loved those people to not fight back or say anything nasty to them. Then when Jesus was nailed to the cross, as He was dying for all the bad things we had done, He still did not say anything mean to those people who treated Him so badly.
Jesus knew that God would take care of Him. He did not need to defend Himself. He even asked God to forgive those people for all the wrong things they had done to Him.
God did take care of Jesus. God brought Jesus back to life, remember? He also brought Him to Heaven and gave Him a very special place next to the Father in Heaven. How much Jesus loves each and every one of us.
“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth” (I Peter 2:21-22).
What would you do if one of your friends treated you unkindly?
