“You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8
“Look out for your sister,”
“Careful, that will give you a blister,”
“Don’t run with that,”
“Careful swinging the bat.”
Do’s and don’ts were all she heard,
On the safe side her parents deferred.
Always cautious and always careful,
It seemed her parents were always fearful.
Squirmles didn’t understand why all the rules,
Why were floaties a must in the pool?
Why couldn’t she ride her bike in the street?
What was so wrong with bare feet?
She knew her parents meant well, that was easy to see,
But being so careful wasn’t easy.
She knew some of the rules, but not them all,
Sometimes it’s impossible not to fall.
God wants you to be careful in all that you do,
That’s why he gave you parents to listen to.
Accidents will happen more often than not,
But recklessness and danger shouldn’t not be sought.
God gave you parents to watch out for you,
To teach and show you what to do.
Sometimes the rules seem like no fun,
But adventures, for you, have just begun.
Do your parents have safety rules for you?
What rule confuses you the most?
