Some people don’t like night-time. It scares them. Are you ever afraid of the dark?
Maybe you wish you were like a firefly—able to flit about, lighting up everything around you. A lawn full of fireflies is one of my favorite things about summer. Catching a jar-full of little lights brightened my nights many times over the years.
Did you know?
Fireflies are not flies at all–they are actually beetles. Their light comes from the reaction of fluids inside their tiny bodies. That light is for much more than amusing us! Fireflies—or glow-worms as they are also known–use the light to communicate, to draw in food to eat, and even to find a mate.
“The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.”
The same amazing God who made the firefly made you. He also made the dark and has good plans for everything. Of all that God made, He loves people the best. His love is the light that makes fear run away! Thinking about God lets us shine from the inside just like the firefly.
What scary thing do you need to shine the love of God on?
