Adam was the first man,
Eve was next, a woman.
God created these two,
God knew what to do.
Adam and Eve lived on special ground,
The perfect world they had found.
Adam and Eve could eat from the land,
They were made with God’s own hand.
There was one thing they couldn’t do,
God had told them not to.
Adam and Eve couldn’t eat from one special tree,
They couldn’t eat from it, even if they were hungry.
Adam and Eve ate anyway,
They messed things up that day.
Now it was too late,
God put up a gate.
The garden was no longer for Adam or Eve,
For they had let the serpent deceive,
Because Adam and Eve chose to sin,
God would not let them back in.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Romans 5:12).
