Long ago there was a wondrous star,
For it led three wise men to travel very far.
Oh yes, how exceedingly they did roam,
I tell you the truth as I write this poem.
These three men traveled across the land,
Guided by God’s mighty, loving hand.
Carrying gold, frankincense, and, myrrh,
Gifts worthy of a Baby King, they were sure.
A very small house was approached by each stranger,
As they entered, they knelt down to worship at the manger.
For they knew this beheld the One True King,
The One for whom the scriptures did ring.
They presented their gifts to the Precious Child,
Their spirits humbled; feeling meek and mild.
Oh what joy did the glory of the Lamb bring,
For it made their hearts suddenly begin to sing.
Our three friends thought back to Egypt they must go,
However, in a dream God told each of them, “NO!”
For this was a gift from the Newborn to the wise men,
and to us the Baby gives us forgiveness from our sin.
Jesus has always existed, even before he was born as a human baby.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).
“Jesus said unto them, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am’ ” (John 8:58).
