“Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.” Prov. 25:12
They were ready to start out on their bike riding fun,
Who knew they’d learn a life lesson when it was said and done.
Squirmles on her bike and Squirrel on her’s too,
They were waiting on mom who knew what to do.
Closing the door, mom was ready to go,
They anxiously waited; mom had been so slow.
“Now listen closely to what I say,
I want you to be safe all along the way.
“Squirmles first and in the street,
Squirrel on the sidewalk and then we will meet.
Watch out for cars in driveways too,
You’re very little and they may not see you.”
Squirmles and Squirrel, ready to go,
Replied, “Yes Mom, we know, we know.”
Down the street they pedaled fast,
Freedom and fun were here at last.
“Slow down!” mom called from the down the street.
“I need to be able to see you,” she began to repeat.
But the girls were too excited and didn’t hear,
They didn’t think they had anything to fear.
Then out of nowhere a car came,
Scaring both Mom and the girls just the same.
“Move to the side,” mom desperately screamed,
And then it happened as if a dream.
The car swerved and then stopped, no one hurt,
But from then on the girls were more alert.
They slowed their pace and listened better,
They realized mom was right–not just a fretter.
God gave you parents to guide your way;
It’s important to listen to what they say.
They have been there before and know a thing or two,
And want to pass it down to you.
Why do you think it’s important to listen to your mom and dad?
Has there been a time when you didn’t listen ?
