A friend loves at all times … (Proverbs 17:17a)
When a friend does something that hurts our feelings, we want to be mad but sometimes people say and do things they don’t mean when they get mad or sad. Jesus had 12 close friends called disciples that went with him everywhere. They were his closest friends.
One of them took money from his enemies so they could arrest Jesus. When he was arrested, the others ran away. Even Peter, who said he would never leave him, ran because he was scared he would be arrested too. But Jesus forgave Peter. He forgave them all, and he not only forgave them, he still let them be his disciples. Then, Jesus gave them the most important work of all which was to tell everyone about him.
Jesus called himself our friend too, and he will always love us and forgive us no matter what. He wants us to be like him and love others too. So remember, if a friend hurts your feelings, be like Jesus and forgive, because a friend loves at all times.
Can you remember a time a friend hurt your feelings and how it made you feel?
